The Chinese Embassy in the FSM Held 5k Walk and Run in Celebration of the 34th Anniversary of Diplomatic Ties between China and the FSM

On July 1, the Chinese Embassy in the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM) and the Micronesia-China Friendship Association (MCFA) jointly held 5k Walk and Run to celebrate the 34th anniversary of diplomatic ties between China and the FSM. H.E Ambassador Wu Wei and Hon. McGarry Miguel, Vice Speaker of the Pohnpei State Legislature and Vice Chairman of the MCFA, delivered remarks. Hon. Kandhi A. Elieisar, Consultant and former Secretary of the FSM Department of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samson Pretrick, consultant and former Director of the FSM Office of Personnel, and over 300 local people wearing cultural shirts emblazoned with "China-FSM Friendship Forever" participated in the event.

Ambassador Wu said that since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and the FSM, the two countries have achieved fruitful outcomes in bilateral relations and strengthened friendship between our two peoples. The China-FSM friendship gymnasium has become a highlight of sports cooperation between our two countries. China stands ready to work with the FSM to expand sports cooperation and inject healthy vitality into our people-to-people exchanges.

Miguel welcomed Ambassador Wu to his new post, commended the long-standing generous assistance from China to the FSM, and extended his appreciation to the Embassy for helping organize this event.

Zack Heuly, a native participant, won the first prize by 17' 22". 

The event received great support from the Department of Public Safety of Pohnpei State Government, Pohnpei Sports Commission, the Department of Public Safety of Kolonia Town, and volunteers from the College of Micronesia.
