On August 11, Ambassador Wu Wei paid a courtesy call on Hon. Cynthia Ehmes, Acting Secretary of the Department of Environment, Climate Change and Emergency Management of the Federated States of Micronesia.

Ambassador Wu elaborated on the outcomes of the cooperation between China and the Pacific Island Countries on disaster risk reduction, climate change response and environmental protection, and shared China's ideas, actions and achievements in green development. Ambassador Wu said that China will continue to provide assistance within its capability to help the FSM tackle climate change and various natural disasters, advance the development of China-FSM Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, and promote the building of a human community of a shared future. Ambassador Wu handed over to Ehmes the funding to host the 3rd Joint Environment and Risk Management Platform.

Ehmes thanked China for its long-term selfless assistance and valuable support to the FSM in responding to natural disasters, appreciated China's achievements in environmental protection and its active role in global response to climate change. Ehmes said that the FSM looks forward to deepening exchanges and cooperation with China in the future, and contribute to the development of the FSM-China relations.
