On January 9, 2024, His Excellency Ambassador Wu Wei met with the Honorable Alexander R. Narruhn, Governor of the Chuuk State of the FSM at the Embassy. Ambassador Wu exchanged views on China-FSM relations and sub-national cooperation with Governor Narruhn.

Ambassador Wu said that under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China-FSM relations have been developing in depth with fruitful practical cooperation, which has brought tangible benefits to the two peoples. Wu appreciated Chuuk State's long-term adherence to the one-China principle, spoke highly of Chuuk State's development achievements under the leadership of Governor Narruhn, and said that China stands ready to continue to strengthen cooperation with Chuuk State in the fields of economy and trade, assistance projects and sub-national affairs, so as to provide assistance within its capacity for Chuuk's economic and social development, and serve the development of China-FSM Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Narruhn thanked China and the sister province of Guangdong for providing a lot of selfless assistance to Chuuk State, saying that Chuuk State attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with China and Guangdong province, and will, as always, firmly support the one-China policy. He said that Chuuk State will actively promote practical cooperation in various fields between the two sides, and contribute to the continuous development of FSM-China relations.
