Ambassador Wu Wei Meets with T.H. Stevenson A. Joseph, Governor of the Pohnpei State

On January 24, 2024, Ambassador Wu Wei met with T.H. Stevenson A. Joseph, Governor of Pohnpei State and exchanged views on China-FSM relations and practical cooperation.

Ambassador Wu congratulated Joseph on his election as Governor of Pohnpei State, appreciated the successive governments of Pohnpei for supporting the development of China-FSM relations, and emphasized that the one-China principle is the political foundation of China-FSM relations and Taiwan is an inalienable part of China’s territory. Wu said that the Chinese side stands ready to continue to strengthen practical cooperation with Pohnpei in various fields such as economy, trade, and China-aid projects on the basis of upholding the one-China principle, and provide assistance within its capacity to help the development of Pohnpei, so as to promote the in-depth development of the China-FSM Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Joseph thanked China for its longstanding generous assistance to Pohnpei, said that the Pohnpei State Government supports the FSM government’s friendly position on China , firmly adheres to the one-China policy, and looks forward to strengthening cooperation with China in key areas such as agriculture, health, and infrastructure for the continuous development of FSM-China relations.
